"A Certain Type Of Fiber"

A university research found that a low-fat,high-fiber diet resulted in three times more weight loss than a low-fat,low-fiber diet.Part of the reason might be because fiber helps move fat through your system rather than letting your body absorb it.Because fiber is harder to digest,it brings fat along with it as it passes through the digestive tract.Your body also works harder, burning more calories, trying to digest it.What's more, there's a certain type of fiber out there called resistant starch. While most fiber is difficult to digest, this fiber( found in patatoes, corn and rice) literally resist it,hence it's name.Resistance starch gets fermented when it reaches the large intestine,a process that creates beneficial fatty acids, including one that may actually block the body's ability to burn carbohydrates.
